The bao buns, those Asian-style steamed buns that have become so fashionable in recent years, have also conquered the big screen thanks to Pixar. Or rather, it promises to conquer viewers, as the Disney affiliate has released the teaser for its next short film and promises to be adorable.

Each Pixar premiere begins with a short snack that is usually a delight for young and old. This summer comes the long-awaited sequel to 'The Incredibles' and, of course, the company has also released pills for the new short film, which this time will be starring a small bathroom that will come to life.

The first Pixar short film created by a woman

Before the imminent premiere of 'The Incredibles 2' -which unfortunately will be delayed in Spain-, Pixar has also whetted our appetite with a 30-second video in which we are introduced to the two protagonists of 'Bao', the first short film created by a woman.

Domee Shi is a young artist who got a scholarship at Pixar after studying animation at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. Until now he had participated in the animation department of some films working on storyboards, but now he will be able to demonstrate his filmmaking skills with the world premiere of his first film job.

Born in China as an only child, her family immigrated to Canada when she was just two years old, and she has used her own experience as inspiration to create a kind of modern fairy tale from the perspective of Chinese immigrant culture.

In 'Bao' we will learn the story of an already mature woman who faces empty nest syndrome. One fine day, the last of the dumplings he's eating suddenly comes alive , and he doesn't hesitate to take care of him like he's his own son.

Bao is adorable and seems to need a lot of pampering and to be treated as a delicate treasure - bao in Chinese, pronounced in a particular way, means "something valuable" - but it will grow very fast . What will it be like to face adolescence with a small roll?

In just seven and a half minutes we will know the full story of this short film that will surely leave us with a smile. During the production process, the team took the research effort very seriously , watching Shi's mother prepare countless muffins to take note of every detail; and devouring them, of course.

It is not easy to translate food into animated images with that balance between appetizing, naturalistic and charming. The thing is complicated if the food in question has to come to life… will we be able to look at the baths with the same eyes after seeing this short film? The answer, next August 3 in theaters.
